DAY 1: LIMA CITY TOUR

Day 1: Lima City Tour

  • Start: Hotel pickup and beginning of the tour.
  • Modern Lima: Visit to Miraflores, Love Park with an ocean view, panoramic tour of Huaca Pucllana, and the olive tree forest in San Isidro, Lima’s financial center.
  • Colonial Lima: Tour of the Historic Center (UNESCO World Heritage Site), San Martín Square, colonial balconies, Archbishop’s Palace, Desamparados Station, Cathedral Basilica, and Municipal Palace.
  • San Francisco Convent: Visit to the ancient library, choir, main cloister, and catacombs.
  • End of the Tour: Return to the hotel.

Day 2: Food tour in Lima

  • Hotel pickup
  • Breakfast at a traditional café (pan con chicharrón, tamales, coffee, or emoliente)
  • Visit to a local market (tasting of exotic fruits and explanation of Peruvian ingredients)
  • Cooking class (preparing ceviche and pisco sour with a chef)
  • Lunch at a typical restaurant (criollo dishes like lomo saltado or ají de gallina)
  • Tasting of Peruvian chocolate and coffee (sampling native cacao and regional coffees)
  • Cultural tour (Historic Center or Barranco with an optional Peruvian dessert tasting)
  • End of the tour and return to hotel

Day 3: Cusco - Ollantaytambo

  • Morning transfer from Cusco to Ollantaytambo
  • Scenic drive through the Sacred Valley
  • Arrival and check-in at hotel in Ollantaytambo
  • Free evening to explore or rest

Day 4: Sacred Valley - Maras Moray - Ollantaytambo - Chinchero

  • Start: 7:00 AM.
  • Itinerary:
    • Chinchero: Visit to an Inca archaeological site and traditional textile demonstration.
    • Moray: Circular Inca terraces, history, and photo opportunities.
    • Maras: Inca salt mines.
    • Urubamba: Lunch (Not included).
    • Ollantaytambo: Tour of the archaeological site (option to stay here).
  • End: Return to the hotel.

Day 5: Machu Picchu

  • Early Pickup: We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco or the Sacred Valley.
  • Trip to Ollantaytambo: 1.5-hour journey in private transportation to the train station.
  • Train Ride: 1 hour and 50-minute journey from Ollantaytambo through the Sacred Valley to Aguas Calientes.
  • Arrival in Aguas Calientes: Meet with the representative or tour guide and transfer by bus to Machu Picchu (25 minutes).
  • Tour in Machu Picchu: 2 to 3-hour guided tour of the historic sanctuary, exploring its Incan architecture and engineering.
  • Return to Aguas Calientes: Bus ride back, with free time for lunch (Lunch not included).
  • Return by Train: Train ride back to Ollantaytambo, where a representative will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel in Cusco or the Sacred Valley.

Day 6: Free day

  • Relaxing day in Cusco.

Day 7: Rainbow Mountain

  • 05:00 AM: Pickup at your hotel.
  • Transfer to the starting point: 3-hour drive to the hiking starting point.
  • Buffet breakfast: Provided at the starting point.
  • Hike to Rainbow Mountain: 1.5-hour hike, with 30 minutes to explore and take photos.
  • Visit to Red Valley: 40-minute tour.
  • Return walk: 1-hour hike back to the starting point.
  • Buffet lunch: After the hike.
  • Return to Cusco: Arrival at your hotel around 5:00 PM.

Day 5: Transfer Out bye bye

  • Hotel transfer to the airport.
  • End of services.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING

  • Passport (optional): Bring a photocopy, but for the Rainbow Mountain stamp, bring the original.
  • 1.5 liters of water: Stay hydrated during the hike.
  • Personal snacks: Extra energy bars if you need frequent snacks.
  • Pillow for van ride: Leave it in the van during the hike.
  • Trekking shoes: Essential for the dusty and slippery path.
  • Waterproof pants (optional): Only for the rainy season (Dec-Mar).
  • Extra clothes (optional): For rainy season to stay dry.
  • Sunscreen lip protector: Protect lips from dryness.
  • Warm jacket: To stay warm, as it’s usually cold.
  • Rain jacket: For unexpected rain, even during dry seasons.
  • Long sleeve t-shirt: Protect from sunburn; apply sunscreen if wearing short sleeves.
  • Wool hat: It’s cold at Rainbow Mountain, even in summer.
  • Trekking pants: Suggested for hiking, but any suitable pants work.
  • Rain poncho: Essential in the rainy season or cloudy days.
  • Sunhat: Protect from strong sun at high altitudes.
  • Sunscreen: Both sun and cold can burn, so apply regularly.
  • Water bottles or Camelbak: Reusable bottles are recommended.
  • Sunglasses: Strong sun and snow reflection can harm eyes.
  • Extra money: For snacks, soda, alpaca meat, or tips for photos.
  • Thick socks: To keep feet warm.
  • Neck gaiter: Keeps neck and face warm, especially in winter.
  • Gloves: Essential for warmth, especially at the summit.
  • Basic medications: Ibuprofen for headaches, Diamox for altitude sickness.
