Day 1: Cachora – Coca Masana – Playa Rosalina

Day 1: Cachora – Coca Masana – Playa Rosalina

  • Pickup at 5:00 a.m. and drive to Cachora (4 hours).
  • Enjoy views of Salkantay and Veronica mountains, and colorful valleys.
  • Arrive in Cachora (2,900m), a typical Andean village.
  • Continue to Capulliyuc, meet muleteers and cook, and start a 2-hour hike to Chikiska (2,115m).
  • Enjoy views of the Apurimac Valley and snow-capped peaks of Padreyoc and Wayna Cachora (5,482m).
  • Descend to Coca Masana (2,330m) and continue to Playa Rosalina (1,550m) beside the Apurimac River for camping.

Day 2: Playa Rosalina – Maranpata – Choquequirao

  • Wake up at 5:00 a.m. with coca tea, pack, and enjoy a quick breakfast.
  • Hike to Maranpata, then continue to Choquequirao archaeological site (arrive by noon).
  • Explore Choquequirao, learn about its construction and Inca civilization.
  • Watch condors around 3 p.m. as they fly to higher areas.
  • After exploring, hike to Raqaypata for camping, dinner, and overnight stay.

Day 3: Choquequirao Full Day

  • Spend the day exploring Choquequirao with a 5-hour guided tour.
  • Visit all 8 sectors of the site, including granaries, houses, temples, and excavated Inca ruins.
  • Observe condors flying close by in the afternoon.
  • Return to camp for lunch, rest, and enjoy the tranquility of Choquequirao.

Day 4: Choquequirao – Santa Rosa – Chiquiska

  • Early wake-up and quick breakfast to start hiking to Santa Rosa.
  • Enjoy the warm climate and abundant vegetation.
  • Continue to Playa Rosalina and then hike to Chiquiska for lunch and overnight camping.

Day 5: Chiquiska – Cachora – Cusco

  • Early wake-up with coca tea, pack, and enjoy breakfast.
  • Hike to the highest point of the Choquequirao trail (4-hour hike) to Mirador Capuliyoq.
  • Private transport will take you back to Cusco, arriving before 5:00 or 6:00 p.m.
